Description The Anni Bergman Parent-Infant Program began in 1997 at the Contemporary Freudian Society and in 2006 came under the joint sponsorship of CFS and IPTAR. The program is unique in offering intensive training in infant observation, psychoanalytic perspectives on infancy and the development of the parent-infant relationship, and training in psychoanalytic parent-infant psychotherapy.

Description Child and Adolescent Program is now offering one year introductory program to child and adolescent psychotherapy. Program consists of four introductory courses offered weekly and it is open to clinicians and candidates in all stages of training. This is an opportunity to learn about working with children and/or about those aspects of childhood that can significantly inform your work with adults.

Description The Respecialization Program, which celebrated its 25th anniversary in the fall of 2024, is designed to provide two years of pre-psychoanalytic training to professionals from the humanities, social sciences, education, law, medicine, the arts, and other fields with the opportunity to lay the groundwork for a clinical career in psychoanalysis. It can also assist individuals with a mental health background, but who have limited clinical experience or limited exposure to psychoanalytic thought, to prepare for psychoanalytic training.

Adult Program Edit

Description IPTAR training is comprised of the three traditional components of a psychoanalytic education: training analysis, curriculum and supervised psychoanalysis, also known as control work. Clinicians without a license will be eligible to sit for the NY State License in Psychoanalysis (LP) exam during their training. Psychologists, social workers and other mental health providers can apply to the adult psychoanalytic training to deepen their psychoanalytic studies.

Requirements - Those who have at least a Masteru2019s Degree in the mental health professions and are either licensed or enrolled in a program leading to New York State licensure should apply to the Program in Adult Psychoanalysis.n- Each candidate completes course work in a minimum of four yearsn- Candidates are required to participate in Training Analysis (detailed later) and have 2 control cases in order to graduaten- The timeframe for training varies as control work includes treating two patients in analysis with supervision.

NYS License Eligible Program In Psychoanalysis Edit

Description Coursework for this program includes IPTARu2019s Adult Psychoanalytic Program with additional courses in Child Abuse Identification, Research in Psychotherapy, and Ethics. Upon completion of the New York State License eligible program, individuals sit for the state exam in Psychoanalysis and upon passing the exam become licensed as a Psychoanalyst (LP).
